Why Battle Passes Feel Different in 2026 Compared to 2019
Battle passes used to feel exciting.
Back in 2019, they were:
- New
- Optional
- Mostly cosmetic
- Easy to complete
Fast forward to 2026, and the experience feels different.
Now:
- Every major multiplayer game has one
- Progression feels slower
- Time requirements feel heavier
- Missing a season feels punishing
The issue might not be battle passes themselves.
It might be saturation.
When one game had a battle pass, it felt manageable.
When five games demand weekly challenges at the same time, it becomes overwhelming.
Is the System the Problem — or the Volume?
Are battle passes worse now?
Or are we just juggling too many at once?
Have you dropped a game recently
because the seasonal grind felt like work?
