What we collect

When you sign up

  • Email address — used only to log you in, send password resets, and notify you of replies. Nothing else.
  • Username — publicly visible on your posts and comments.

When you use the platform

  • Posts, comments, votes, and community memberships you create.
  • Any images or files you choose to upload.
  • Basic usage data — which pages you visit, so we can keep the site working correctly.
  • IP address — for security and abuse prevention only, not tracking.
We do not collect your real name, phone number, payment details, or location beyond what your IP address broadly indicates.

How we use your information

Running the platform

To let you log in, post, comment, vote, and participate in communities.

Notifications

To email you when someone replies to your post or mentions you — only if you have notifications enabled.

Security & moderation

To detect spam, prevent abuse, and enforce our community rules.

We never use your email for marketing, newsletters, or advertising. You won't receive promotional emails from us unless you explicitly opt in to something like that in the future — and we'll make that very obvious.

Cookies

We use a small number of cookies. None of them are used for advertising or cross-site tracking.

Session cookie

Keeps you logged in. Deleted when you log out.

Remembers dark/light mode and similar settings.

CSRF token

Protects against cross-site request forgery attacks.

You can manage or delete cookies in your browser settings. Disabling the session cookie will log you out. Disabling the preference cookie just means your theme won't be remembered between visits.

Third parties

We use a small number of third-party services to keep the site running. We only share data with them where it is strictly necessary.

Hosting provider

Your data is stored on servers provided by our hosting company. They only process data on our instructions and are bound by a data processing agreement.

Transactional email

We use an email provider to send password resets and account notifications. Your email address is shared with them solely for this purpose.

We do not sell, rent, or trade your data with any third party for any commercial purpose — ever.

Your rights

Access

Request a copy of the data we hold about you. You can also export it directly from your account settings.

Deletion
